This roof system is commonly referred to as a "Tar and Gravel" roof.  BUR systems generally consist of alternating layers of Bitumen and reinforcing fabrics to create a finished membrane.    

A BUR provides excellent waterproofing and UV protection. They tend to be very low maintenance which makes for a low life cycle cost. They also offer outstanding weather resistance. 

The risk of roof leaks is greatly reduced due to the system being comprised of multiple layers. This also allows for little to no issues in high foot traffic areas.

This system provides exceptional resistance to the conduction of heat between the exterior and interior of the building. When finished with a reflective cool roof coating, it will greatly improve your building's efficiency.
